ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Michael T. Mattich, P.E.

Mr. Michael T. Mattich is a Professional Mechanical Engineer who has over 25 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of process equipment, production methods, environmental impact control, and project life-cycle management for the industrial processing and refining of steel. His diverse experiences in many different aspects of the steel industry include Blast Furnace operation, Basic Oxygen Process (BOP) operation, Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) operation, Hot and Cold Mill Rolling operation, industrial ventilation and air pollution control, and industrial refractory manufacturing.
Michael graduated from Penn State Erie - The Behrend College in the Fall of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technolgy and minored in Business Operations Management. He is an active member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) as well as the Project Management Institute (PMI) and United States Institution of Building Documentation (USIBD).
Mr. Mattich grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA and began his career in the steel industry when he was 18 years old. His first career step into the steel industry was working at the local steel mills as a general laborer alongside his father and uncle for a local in-plant contractor. He worked for the contracting company on the weekends while attending classes at Penn State - Greater Allegheny (formally McKeesport) and then full-time for the company in the summers. Michael then transferred to the Penn State Erie - The Behrend College to finish out his degree, and during the end of his sophomore year, he would apply for 6-month internship at, coincidentally, the same steel mill he was a laborer at 3 years prior. He finished achieving his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in the Winter of 2002.
After graduation, and for the next Ten years, Michael coursed his career through various companies either designing & analyzing new steel making equipment & manufacturing processes or assist in managing manufacturing & installation projects. Then, in 2013, he created TCM Consulting, LLC as a temporary-to-permanent position for one of his many career paths. During this time, he achieved his Mechanical Professional Engineering License in the state of Pennsylvania. After being hired full time, put TCM Consulting, LLC into dormancy for the next couple of years.
Upon leaving his previous role of a Mechanical Engineer in 2017, he was hired full-time at a local steel foundry as a Capital Project Manager where he first started gaining interest in becoming a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) to complement his engineering profession. Unfortunately, after 2 1/2 years, the foundry experienced an economic downturn, and at the end of 2019, his position was discontinued. However, not being deterred from his goals, Michael decided to restart TCM Consulting, LLC and build his young company into what he envisioned it to become, a source of expertise in innovative front-end project layout design and project management.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Mattich, so far, has five US and International patent recognitions for steel processing equipment designs & applications.
Currently, Michael is pursuing a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification along with specialized certifications in PMI Agile (PMI-ACP) and Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) practices.
